Description
Deepgate Diving Company is a visually spectacular, lighthearted deep-ocean engineering simulator where players design, test, pilot, and occasionally catastrophically destroy experimental submersibles while building a company capable of reaching the deepest places on Earth.
Players run a small salvage outfit: a boat, a parts shed, six people, and a board of jobs nobody better-funded wanted. They build a machine in the dock from hulls, tanks and thrusters that all have honest numbers on them, take a job, and go down. Crush depth is real. Buoyancy is real. The battery does not care how close you are to the crate.
Failure is heard before it is seen: a hull that is unhappy creaks, then groans, then stops making any sound at all. Every loss ends in an engineering report naming the part that started it and the depth it went at. The roster is six people and it is closed: crew aboard a lost vessel go down with it.
Features
- A vessel dock with sixty parts in seven families, symmetry, undo and subassemblies, where every number is honest
- 110 jobs across eighteen lines of work, from 8 m down to the deepest trench
- Six named crew, each changing one real number; lose a boat and you lose who was in it
- Failure you hear first: hull acoustics, cracking windows, flooding cabins, implosions, and an engineering report after every loss
- Fly from the chase camera or the pilot's seat; unbuckle and walk the cabin; hull cameras, sonar and radar
- Five diver kits, from a breath-hold to a hard hat
- CAREER, SCIENCE and SANDBOX companies, FREE DIVE and two CHALLENGE courses
- Full controller support, including the PlayStation 5 DualSense; a separate VR build for Quest 3 on Link
History
Deepgate started in July 2026 as a one-person project with a simple brief: the ocean as an engineering problem, with the tone "engineering serious, world playful". It began as a prototype, was rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, and entered Early Access as version 1.0 in October 2026.
How it was made
Concept art, the crew portraits and the 3D assets were generated from scripts and prompts by AI tools directed by one person; every rule, number and line of copy is human-written and human-tested. The sound is not AI-generated: the recordings are CC0 (freesound.org and Kenney), the music is by Magnality, and everything else is synthesised for the game by its own script.
Video
The trailer is an in-engine cinematic, rendered from the game. The download is the preview cut at 720p; the final 4K master replaces it when it is finished.
